The EVO is just a better track car altogether. Its much faster in the corners because the rex understeers when put to its limits. Watch that video and pay special attention to the white EVO up front. Notice how it slices through those twisties effortlessly with just the right amount of oversteer.

Now watch the S203. It clearly has superior speed on the straights along with blistering acceleration - it has no problem moving up the line on the other cars. But put it hard into a corner and it goes wide. This is where the EVO shines, and it shows as it leaves the Impreza in the dust accelerating out of the apex. Thats enough to put the S203 a couple seconds behind. Its quick, but not that quick.
