I will start from the beginning so you can have better understanding of what is going on.
I bought a used 2010 STI with 50000 km on it (its a bit a lot but i got a good deal on it) with a K&N short ram intake already installed,
the car was behaving normal for may be 2 months and then all of a sudden i noticed that accelerator pedal become less responsive it all happened over night (it's hard to get a good start on 1 gear, sometimes when you got it going the car will jerk a little, feels like you would let go off the gas pedal just as you about to launch the car, then kick it back again, its feels like i am not giving it enough gas) i also noticed that my turbo or wastgage was making the famous fluttering sound(i did a small test i was going on the highway at 100km/h in 5 gear at 3000 rpm and gave it full throttle the car accelerates to 4000 rpm then it felt like the power was cut to the engine for a fraction of a second then it continuing boosting but it's felt not like before, it felt like it was not going all the way like it was holding back).
I am still under warranty so i went to the dealer to get it checked, of cures, they found nothing wrong with the car, so i went online looking for guidelines in the right direction that can help me.
So after i went back to the dealer and did a compression test (i didn't do a leakdown test) 1cyl 130
2cyl 134
3cyl 130
4cyl 134
They also changed my K&N for stock intake just to test and told me that it was 90% better but still not a 100%.
I also did noticed that my car started to use oil almost 1 liter peer 2000 km so i change the PCV assembly just for peace of mind (and it was the easy thing to start with) i am monitoring the oil closely so far i noticed it going down fingers crossed.
I also read online that it could be the subaru maps that mess everything up so just today i flash it with cobb accessport map (COBB Tuning, v3.00 -- Stage1+SF 93 v300 Boost Select - Intended for 2010 Subaru Impreza WRX STI vehicles with COBB Tuning SF intake system with a stock or cat-back exhaust running 93 or 94 octane petrol. Boost Targets: ~18psi (S Sharp) or 15 psi (S) peak boost pressure tapering down to ~13.5 psi by the 6700 RPM redline, +/- 1.0 psi.) and i did a DATA log please see attachment.
I noticed that the full throttle lagging at 3000 to 4000 RPM is goan but the accelerator pedal still feels laggy and i would say it's even worse a little.
Also when i was going on the highway and doing full bust the rustling sound became more pronounced and when i let go off the gas pedal, it felt like the blow off valve did not open fast enough letting the whole car shake sort of it's very hard to describe.
If you ask me i would guess that when i pushed my car when i just bought it, with the K&N filter the car maybe was over busting there for resulting in somthing being damaged so please any help will be appreciated.
P.s. my car is stock only mod is the K&N filter and now the cobb map.
for some reason... on that first log there was 2 knock events at lower rpm, lower boost. then when the boost came on it went away.
i would be concerned with that one.
second one looks alot better with some learn knock still correcting.
i wonder if the cobb SF map is not ideal for the K and N filter. would be good if you could get some feeback from them. Maybe the 93 oct NWG, regular map would be better... but they would need to comment.
until i got some advice, i would run the 91 map to be safe.
